Clearance Times by Mode of Transport
Air Freight (DXB / DWC)
Air cargo generally clears fastest — often same-day or within 24 hours — because volumes per shipment are smaller and airport customs processing is built for speed. Perishables and time-sensitive cargo are usually prioritised.
Sea Freight (Jebel Ali Port)
Sea shipments typically take 1 to 3 working days once the vessel has berthed and the container is discharged, assuming documentation was filed before arrival (pre-clearance). Filing only after the ship docks adds at least a day to this timeline.
Land Border Shipments
Trucks crossing UAE land borders are cleared at the point of crossing itself, so the "clearance time" is really the time spent at the border checkpoint — usually a few hours if documents match the load exactly, but potentially a full day or more if anything needs correcting on the spot.
